“Logorama”
Nicolas Schmerkin
A 16-minute satire on the culture of global consumption made almost entirely with brand logos and trademarks, “Logorama” is the product of the Paris-based design firm H5, which has worked primarily in the fields of commercials and music videos.
Producer Nicolas Schmerkin accepted the award and acknowledged the film’s directors: François Alaux, Hervé de Crécy and Ludovic Houplain.
“It doesn’t look like it, but it’s a French film,” said Schmerkin, adding that the project had 3,000 “unofficial sponsors” and that “no logos were harmed in the making” of the film.
Schmerkin said it took six years to produce the 16-minute film, “so I hope to come back here with a long film in about 36 years.”
The makers of “Logorama” beat four-time Oscar-winning animator Nick Park, who was considered a favorite in the category for the latest Wallace & Gromit film, “A Matter of Loaf and Death.”
