Barmes, Street save day for the Rockies

DENVER — Second baseman Clint Barmes made a diving catch to start a game-ending double play, preserving the Colorado Rockies’ 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday.
Huston Street earned his first six-out save in three years and the Rockies stayed 2 1/2 games ahead of the Atlanta Braves in the National League wild-card race.
It was Street’s 34th save in 35 chances.
Colorado’s victory also kept the Dodgers from clinching the NL West title.
With runners on first base and third base and one out in the ninth inning, Barmes sprinted to the outfield grass on Ryan Ludwick’s flare. He dived headfirst for the ball, snaring it and firing to first base to double up Albert Pujols, who ran on contact.
