When Gustavo Dudamel takes the podium at the Hollywood Bowl next month as music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, it will be a global event accessible by anyone with an Internet connection.

The Philharmonic announced Monday that it will show the inaugural “?Bienvenido Gustavo!” concert for free on its website in a high-definition broadcast. Viewers can go to the orchestra’s official site, www.laphil.org, to experience the concert beginning at 4 p.m. Oct. 3.

All individual performances from the concert will be available on demand for 24 hours beginning at 10 a.m. the following day.

This marks the first time that a concert at the Hollywood Bowl will be shown on the Internet, according to the orchestra. In August, hundreds of fans were turned away from the Hollywood Bowl box office when tickets for the free concert were snapped up in advance and online.

”?Bienvenido Gustavo!” will feature ensembles and youth groups from around the Southern California area. Dudamel will conduct the Youth Orchestra of L.A. and the Philharmonic in music by Beethoven.

The concert will also feature appearances by musicians Alfredo Rodriguez, Herbie Hancock and Flea.

Other local music groups scheduled to appear include the Silverlake Conservatory Ensemble, New Christ Memorial Church Adult and Children’s Choir and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts’ Jazz Band.
