Kansas City 7, Detroit 4: Alex Gordon and Alberto Callaspo homered, leading the last-place Royals past the Tigers for a surprising three-game sweep of the American League Central leaders. It was the first three-game sweep of an American League team at home this season for the Royals.
at Toronto 3, Minnesota 2: Jose Bautista hit a solo homer, Brett Cecil won his final start of the season and the Blue Jays beat the Twins. Minnesota, which began the day 5 1/2 games back of the Detroit Tigers, has not won consecutive games since a three-game winning streak from Aug. 30-Sept. 1.
