Vernon police on Monday arrested a man suspected of fatally shooting two people at a local lumberyard, where the alleged gunman and the victims worked.
The suspect, who was not immediately identified, fled after the shootings about 9:40 a.m. at the Bohnhoff Lumber Company in the 3400 block of East 26th Street, police said.
He was arrested after leading police on a brief car chase through Vernon and Huntington Park that came to an end when the suspect’s car crashed, police said.
Sources familiar with the case said the shooter and the victims were lumberyard employees. The victims were shot in offices at the location, although the motive was not immediately clear.
