at Detroit 9, Oakland 1: Miguel Cabrera drove in four runs, Ryan Raburn hit a three-run homer and the AL Central-leading Tigers (19-16) roughed up the Athletics for the second straight night.
at Tampa Bay 4, Cleveland 2: B.J. Upton homered for the second consecutive day and Matt Garza (4-2) pitched six effective innings for the Rays.
at Toronto 2, Chicago 1: Jose Bautista drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, and the Blue Jays beat the White Sox to give rookie right-hander Robert Ray his first major league win.
Baltimore 3, at Kansas City 2: Rich Hill came off the disabled list and pitched into the sixth inning, picking up his first victory in more than a year for the Orioles. The Royals, who have lost seven of eight, have scored three runs or fewer in 17 of 37 games.
Boston 5, at Seattle 3: Jason Bay and Jason Varitek hit two-run homers in the first and second innings, respectively, and Josh Beckett improved to 4-2 for the Red Sox.
at Texas 5, Angels 3: The Rangers won their sixth straight and moved 3 1/2 games ahead of the second-place Angels in the AL West.
