Funding for adult education

Re “Survey finds California school funding dilemma,” April 30
I am an adult education teacher. Our school actively trains students for jobs, yet our classes have been drastically cut. I understand that we are in the middle of a financial crisis, but how can it make sense to reduce a successful program dedicated to job training?
Adult schools serve communities. We offer classes for job training, high school, ESL and GED preparation. Our classes are directly useful.
How can it be that entire programs such as these are compromised when they should be encouraged?
