Boston 6, at New York 4: Jon Lester matched a career high with 10 strikeouts, Mike Lowell and Jason Bay each hit a home run and the Red Sox prevailed in a rain-delayed game that ended at 1:10 a.m. EDT.
Minnesota 7, at Detroit 2: Francisco Liriano (1-4) had a season-high nine strikeouts, and Michael Cuddyer hit a two-run triple in a five-run seventh inning.
Baltimore 8, at Tampa Bay 4: Nick Markakis hit a three-run home run, and Brian Roberts hit a two-run shot to help the Orioles end a losing streak at six games.
Cleveland 9, at Toronto 7 (12 innings): Josh Barfield’s single in the 12th inning drove in Mark DeRosa with the go-ahead run. Grady Sizemore capped the rally with a two-out, two-run double.
Texas 6, at Seattle 5: Chris Davis hit a tiebreaking two-run home in the sixth inning, and Michael Young also hit a two-run home run for the Rangers, who lead the major leagues with 46.
Angels 5, at Oakland 2: Torii Hunter drove in three runs to back up Joe Saunders (4-1).
