Twins sweep the White Sox

at Minnesota 3, Chicago 2: Light-hitting Alexi Casilla had two RBIs, Minnesota’s bullpen pitched four scoreless innings and the Twins swept the three-game series. Casilla began the game hitting .161.
Oakland 8, at Boston 6: Adam Kennedy homered on the first pitch of the game and the Athletics again outslugged the Red Sox. Brett Anderson (6-8) was staked to a 5-0 lead before even taking the mound and won at Fenway Park for the second time in 23 days. He beat the Red Sox, 6-0, with a two-hitter July 6.
at Baltimore 7, Kansas City 3: Adam Jones homered and drove in three runs and Nick Markakis also had three RBIs for the Orioles.
Detroit 13, at Texas 5: Curtis Granderson led off the game with a home run and connected again in the second inning, and Justin Verlander equaled a career high by striking out 13.
New York 6, at Tampa Bay 2: Joba Chamberlain pitched eight scoreless innings and Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano homered and drove in two runs apiece to lead the Yankees.
at Angels 9, Cleveland 3: Howie Kendrick homered and drove in five runs.
