A silver lining to camp out

The Airstream trailer people and the KOA campground people have struck up a new relationship. Not only are they spending nights together, but they’d also like us to join them. Airstream has sold 25 shiny silver trailers to Kampgrounds of America, including 10 to the Las Vegas KOA campground near the Circus Circus Hotel. Rates start at $45 nightly (through Feb. 28), and each of the 25-foot-long Vegas Airstreams sleeps up to four. Besides Las Vegas, Airstream rentals are earmarked for KOA campgrounds in Sugarloaf Key, Fla. (already renting); and Bar Harbor, Maine, which will open units in spring. Kim at Disney

Imagine a hidden theme park attraction that lasts as long as you want and changes each time you visit. The Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure, which opened recently at Epcot in Walt Disney World, blends an old-fashioned treasure hunt with high-tech spy gadgetry in an interactive game similar to geocaching or orienteering. Based on the Disney animated TV show “Kim Possible,” about a high school cheerleader who fights crime, the self-paced game deputizes secret agents who scour the Orlando, Fla., theme park for clues to help save the world. A series of missions takes place in seven pavilions: China, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Norway and Britain. Each game, included in the cost of park admission, takes about 45 to 60 minutes. Eco-shoes

When Crescent Moon Co. offered to let me test its “green” snowshoes, I was skeptical. Instead of using polyvinyl chloride -- the hard plastic stuff used for furniture -- the company uses a polymer gel harness system and a lightweight polyurethane decking material that are recyclable. The Gold Series 9 (shown here) costs $240, but I found the teardrop-shaped frame and easy-to-tighten harness system made trekking over drifts, packed snow and icy trails a pleasure. Their last act

Siegfried and Roy will take their final bows later this month in Las Vegas during what’s being billed as their “farewell performance.” The pair’s long run at the Mirage ended abruptly on Oct. 3, 2003, when Roy Horn was bitten by one of their legendary white tigers. The magicians’ final illusions will take place at Bellagio on Feb. 28, during a fundraiser for the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, www.keepmemoryalive.org. For those who can’t afford tickets -- they start at $1,500 -- parts of the gala are scheduled for ABC’s “20/20” on March 6.
