A sting in a neighborhood hard hit by November’s wildfires netted seven arrests of allegedly unlicensed contractors, officials said Thursday.
The undercover operation was conducted by police, the district attorney’s office and the Contractors State License Board. In addition to the felony arrests for bidding without a license in a declared disaster area, one contractor also was arrested on suspicion of heroin possession.
The contractors had run ads, distributed fliers, posted Internet notices or been targeted by complaints to the contractors board. After arranging for them to give bids at a property on Coyote Road, investigators arrested them.
