THE 25% OFF DEAL

Got writer’s block? Let the New York landmark Algonquin Hotel help you get your muse back.
The deal: Writers with proof of their written work-in-progress or published manuscript can save 25% off the best available rate with a two-night minimum. Just ask for the “Writer’s Block” special rate. The best available rate I found was $239 per night or $478, including taxes for both nights of the two-night minimum stay. And here’s a tip: Take your union card with you. Members of any entertainment union (Writers Guild, Screen Actors Guild, Directors Guild of America, Actor’s Equity, etc.) receive an automatic 20% discount on drinks at the Blue Bar or the lobby when they present their union card. The hotel room special will run throughout 2009, but some restrictions apply, and availability is not guaranteed.
