Re: Michael Hiltzik’s business column, “Stem cell program needs therapy,” March 30:

I wish Hiltzik had spent more ink explaining how the Bush administration’s ideologically fueled ban on stem cell research has hurt people desperately hoping for a cure for Type 1 diabetes, and less time worrying about how research funds are finally going to be spent.

Shame on the Republican Party for stalling the best hope for thousands. I only wish that when a cure is found, right-wing zealots would have to apologize individually before they, or their children, receive any treatment derived from the research they wanted to deny others.
