* Detroit 6, at Cleveland 2 (10 innings): Magglio Ordonez hit a three-run homer in Detroit’s four-run 10th inning, and the Tigers moved a game ahead of the Indians in the up-for-grabs American League Central.
* Baltimore 12, at New York 0: Kevin Millar homered and reached base five times for the Orioles, who improved to 17-13 since the All-Star break. Aubrey Huff finished with five runs batted in, Melvin Mora went three for four and Jay Payton drove in two runs.
* at Boston 2, Tampa Bay 1: Coco Crisp singled in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, three batters after Mike Lowell had tied the score with a homer.
* at Texas 5, Kansas City 3: Gerald Laird and Michael Young homered and Kevin Millwood (8-9) struck out nine in seven innings. It was the longest outing for Millwood since July 13, when he went seven innings against the Angels.
* Minnesota 11, at Seattle 3: Jason Bartlett’s leadoff homer sparked a three-run fifth for the Twins and Matt Garza won for the first time in over a month. Minnesota ended a five-game losing streak.
* at Oakland 4, Chicago 3: Jack Cust hit solo home runs in his first two at-bats to help Lenny DiNardo win his fourth consecutive decision. Cust homered in the first and again leading off the fourth for his 19th and 20th home runs.
* at Toronto 4, Angels 1: Roy Halladay pitched his major league-leading fifth complete game and the Blue Jays took advantage of four errors.
