Classmates Media planning an IPO

Classmates Media Corp., operator of a website that connects users with people they were in school or the military with, plans to sell shares to the public.

The Woodland Hills-based unit of United Online Inc., had a 2006 net loss of $1.9 million on revenue of $139.4 million, Classmates said in a filing Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The filing gave no details on the planned offering.

The company plans to trade under the symbol CLAS.
