Soldier slain in Afghanistan

A Polish soldier became the first from his country to be killed in the Afghanistan conflict when his patrol was attacked near the city of Gardez, Defense Minister Aleksander Szczyglo told television station TVN24.
Lukasz Kurowski, 28, was killed by gunfire. Poland has about 1,100 soldiers in Afghanistan with a NATO-led mission.
