Paraguay Defeats Guatemala

Julio Dos Santos scored in the 74th minute to give Paraguay a 2-1 victory over Guatemala in an exhibition Sunday at the Coliseum.

Aureliano Torres began the scoring play from the left flank with a pass to Nelson Cuevas, who passed to Carlos Bonet at the right side of the 18-yard penalty area. Bonet then found Dos Santos for a seven-yard shot.

Cuevas, who played in the 2002 World Cup, gave Paraguay a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when he converted a pass from Mauro Monges from 11 yards, putting the shot inside the right post.

Guatemala’s Andres Rivera tied the score in the 36th minute.

Rivera volleyed a header from Paraguay defender Pedro Sarabia from 14 yards inside the left post.
