The dollar looks tougher in Fiji
After reading “Dollar Less Pummeled on the Road Less Traveled” [Travel Insider, Jan. 2], I feel compelled to respond.
One travel area omitted in Times staff writer Jane Engle’s article that is still affordable for U.S. travelers is the South Pacific, especially Fiji, where the U.S. dollar is still relatively strong: $1 equals $1.68 in Fijian dollars.
Fiji offers pricing for most budgets and a variety of activities for families, students, honeymooners, those seeking adventure of all levels, cultural experiences and divers.
For Americans who don’t want to stay close to home, Fiji and the South Pacific are affordable.
