Treatment Center’s Relocation Is Blocked

Operators of a drug and alcohol treatment center for Native Americans will need to look for a new site after San Joaquin County supervisors rejected a proposal to move to French Camp.
Officials of the Three Rivers Indian Lodge near Manteca wanted to move to the 140-acre site to provide treatment and teach farming skills that would help Indians reconnect with the land.
But supervisors, who on Tuesday opposed the project, suggested that the lodge move to a nonrural setting.
