Explosives experts in Phoenix unloaded a grounded UPS cargo plane by hand only to find that two threatening phone calls, including one that mentioned a bomb on board, turned out to be hoaxes.
The search for a package mentioned in the calls turned up a box containing bottled water, fabric softener and cabbage, said Jeanine L’Ecuyer, spokeswoman for Sky Harbor International Airport.
The remaining packages on the 757 jet, which had left Los Angeles bound for Louisville, Ky., were placed back into circulation for delivery, she said.
