A California Highway Patrol officer shot and killed the driver of a stolen pickup late Tuesday night, the CHP reported.
Two CHP officers had stopped a Toyota pickup driven by a man, with a female passenger, about 11:30 p.m. After checking the license plates, the officers determined the truck was stolen. One of the officers tried to arrest the suspect, who tried to flee.
The suspect’s car dragged one of the CHP officers, who rolled out of the way, officials said. Then the driver headed toward the other officer, who shot at him, killing him on the spot.
