Sewage Spill Closes Part of Shoreline at El Portal

Three hundred feet of beach on each side of West El Portal was closed Tuesday to swimming because of a sewage spill, county health officials said.
The spill occurred at an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Buena Vista when a cleanout cap broke, sending about 40 gallons of raw sewage down a storm drain, a county spokeswoman said.
