Two men wounded in what was believed to have been a gang shooting at Inglewood Park Cemetery were in stable condition Tuesday. Police continued to investigate the incident, in which hundreds of mourners were caught in a crossfire.
Several Inglewood Police Department officers, who had been monitoring a large funeral, shot at suspected gunmen after seeing them open fire on a crowd about 2:50 p.m. Monday in a parking lot just north of the brick mausoleum on Manchester Boulevard. The gunmen disappeared among the mourners, officials said.
Shortly thereafter, an Inglewood traffic officer on Manchester confronted a man fleeing from the cemetery with a gun. The man pointed the weapon at the officer, and the officer shot at him, officials said. The gunman then jumped into a waiting car and escaped.
