During a weekend trek in Mt. San Jacinto State Park, we made it to the 10,834-foot peak around 5 p.m. It was surprisingly warm and calm up top, and I surprised my wife with a summit patch ($3 at the ranger station). Long evening shadows made for a chilly descent back to camp.
