* Symantec Corp., the Cupertino, Calif., maker of computer anti-virus software, agreed to buy ON Technology Corp. for $100 million to add programs for managing corporate computer networks.
* Tenet Healthcare Corp. of Santa Barbara said its banks agreed to amend terms of a $1.5-billion line of credit, allowing the company to avoid a potential default.
* U.S. legal authorities have given France an additional month to settle a case over Credit Lyonnais’ allegedly illegal takeover of insolvent California insurer Executive Life. The extension gives France until Nov. 24 to settle the case.

* South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co. and Japan’s Sony Corp. are expected to announce a $1.8-billion joint venture to make flat screens for televisions, a source close to the deal said.
* British confectionery and soft drinks giant Cadbury Schweppes said it plans to slash 5,500 jobs and 20% of its factories over four years to cut costs brought about by an acquisition spree.
