Weekend box office
Dimension Films set an October record with the opening of “Scary Movie 3” in addition to being the biggest opening in the popular franchise. But this coming weekend will likely be a hard one, considering that Halloween is on a Friday night and most Americans will be out trick-or-treating or otherwise engaged. In any case, Disney will release the family picture “Brother Bear” nationwide Saturday. The movie grossed an impressive $291,940 in two theaters in Los Angeles and New York last weekend.
