Notice to Recall City Council Members Filed

Proponents of an effort to recall City Council members officially filed a notice of intent with the city.
George Alvarez, who served the council members with the recall notice, filed the official papers Tuesday. Alvarez said he is representing citizens who are unhappy with the council because of a recent controversy involving the Police Department.
The city, which is in contract negotiations with the Guadalupe Police Officers Assn., had looked into whether it would save the city money to contract with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services, which angered some residents.
