Daniel Ballard and Whitney Patton, Ayala: Ballard won the boys’ race in 15:31; Patton finished in 18:26 to place second among girls in the Bell Gardens Invitational.
WATER POLO
Will Hindle-Katel, Brian Flacks and Eric Vreeland, Harvard-Westlake: Each scored once in the second half and finished with two goals as the Wolverines, No. 1 in The Times’ rankings and in Division I, won, 9-8, over Long Beach Wilson, ranked No. 2 by The Times and No. 4 in Division I.
Grant Miller, Damien: He had three goals, six steals and three assists as the Spartans, No. 6 in the Times’ rankings and No. 1 in Division V, beat Mission Viejo, 17-7, to win their third consecutive North Orange County tournament title at Capistrano Valley.
