From Times Wire Reports
Indian police clashed with rock-throwing Hindu militants in Ayodhya, stopping a banned rally called to back the construction of a Hindu temple atop the wreckage of an ancient mosque.
The rally, which organizers had said would bring in more than 100,000 supporters, attracted only about 1,500, who battled police for about 30 minutes. No one was seriously injured, and the hard-line Hindus, who had warned of violence if the rally was not allowed to go forward, lined up peacefully to be bused away after their arrest.
