Re “An Ambitious China Reaches for the Stars,” Oct. 15: China may have been 40 years behind in launching its first man into space, but having just returned from Beijing, I feel confident that it will take them far less time to catch up and perhaps soar far beyond. The energy of the Chinese people, motivated in no small part by the 2008 Olympics, has created an atmosphere that is attracting an enormous amount of young, bright Western talent.
The dedication to acquire, integrate and then compete with capitalism can be captured most succinctly in the slang favored by our young people: Awesome!
