* Northrop Grumman Corp. named company director Charles Noski to replace Chief Financial Officer Richard Waugh, who is retiring. Noski, 51, will start work Dec. 1 and he will remain on Century City-based Northrop’s board.
* EchoStar Communications Corp. submitted a $1.03-billion bid to acquire six North American communications satellites from Loral Space & Communications with the court overseeing Loral’s bankruptcy reorganization. The bid came a week after Loral rejected a new offer by Echostar to acquire all of Loral for $1.85 billion.
* Edison International received dividend payments of around $1.2 billion from two of its subsidiaries as it moves toward its goal of resuming dividend payments to shareholders. Southern California Edison, the Rosemead-based company’s utility subsidiary, provided $945 million, while another unit, Edison Capital, paid $225 million.
* AstraZeneca agreed to buy $100 million of Fremont, Calif.-based Abgenix Inc.’s shares to gain rights to experimental cancer treatments.
* Albert Bergonzi, a former vice president at McKesson Corp., a San Francisco drug wholesaler, pleaded guilty to fraud for helping inflate revenue at HBO & Co. before it was purchased by McKesson in 1999.
* Idec Pharmaceuticals Corp. of San Diego, maker of a drug to treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, said a U.S. judge ruled that Corixa Corp. and GlaxoSmithKline can’t use four patents to block sales of Idec’s Zevalin treatment.
