State’s Gasoline Prices Fall 4.9 Cents a Gallon

California retail gasoline prices continued to fall last week, pushing the statewide average 4.9 cents lower to $1.805 for a gallon of self-serve regular, according to a federal report.
Prices at the pump have fallen 29.6 cents a gallon in seven weeks but have yet to fully reverse the price increase that hit California motorists in August, according to the Energy Information Administration, the statistical arm of the Energy Department.
Gasoline prices also declined slightly nationwide, falling 0.5 of a cent to an average of $1.568 a gallon, the agency said.
