The Santa Barbara Planning Commission on Wednesday approved what may be the largest proposed housing development in the county’s history.
The development is to include 725 units -- 494 single-family homes and 231 condominiums. A 26-acre community park and five smaller neighborhood parks are planned for the 626-acre site.
Ed Moses, director of the county’s Housing and Community Development Department, said rising home prices in the county have made new housing a necessity.
