An 81-year-old Ventura man died Saturday morning after he apparently had a heart attack while driving on the 101 Freeway near Faria Beach, about six miles north of Ventura, authorities said.
Marion “Bud” Bryson was driving north about 8 a.m. when he became ill and pulled over near Padre Juan Canyon Road, authorities said. Witnesses told authorities that Bryson then slumped over the steering wheel.
Passing drivers stopped to help Bryson, but his car was locked. They called 911, but firefighters arrived too late to come to his aid.
