From Times Wire Reports
Fall is less than two weeks old, but it felt like winter as snow dusted parts of the Great Lakes region and temperatures dipped as low as the teens and 20s.
In Phillips, Wis., the mercury fell to 13, and traces of snow fell as far south as Fond du Lac.
Michigan was hard hit with an overnight low of 23 degrees and 4 inches of snow in the Upper Peninsula town of Ironwood. One traffic death in the state was blamed on the weather.
Sections of Ohio also reported snow and iced roads.
