8,000 Spent Fuel Rods Processed, Official Says

North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Choe Su Hon said Pyongyang has finished processing 8,000 spent fuel rods that could be used to make nuclear bombs, New China News Agency reported.
Choe’s remarks came a day after Japan’s Asahi Shimbun newspaper said another North Korean official, Li Gun, met informally in New York with Donald Keyser, deputy U.S. secretary of State. Details were not disclosed.
