His Milestone Lacks Meaning

PORTLAND, Ore. — Eric Piatkowski, who on Wednesday became the eighth player in Clipper history to top 5,000 points, isn’t happy about losing his starting spot at shooting guard to Corey Maggette.
Asked if he was excited about the milestone, Piatkowski said, “No, not really.”
“I just want an opportunity to play on a consistent basis,” he added. “I want to contribute. I want us to be playing decent basketball toward the end of the season. There will be five months off, and that’s a long time to think about what’s gone wrong.
“I thought when I came back from my injury [Jan. 24], I would be inserted into the regular rotation, but I haven’t had any consistent minutes since I’ve come back [from a lower abdominal strain].”
