Police Identify Slain Motorcycle Officer

The San Diego motorcycle officer killed Thursday while chasing a suspected car thief was identified as Terry William Bennett, 38, a 13-year veteran of the Police Department. Bennett was married and had two young sons.
Bennett died after the truck he was chasing made a U-turn and drove directly toward his motorcycle, officials said. The truck’s driver, Kevin Williams, 37, was arrested a mile away. Acting Police Chief John Welter said officials will seek murder charges.
