A step closer to community
I am so glad that someone else recognizes the interesting dynamic of life in Los Angeles (“In a Rare Moment, the City Finds Its Feet,” by Barbara King, June 5).
The city is incredibly diverse with so many different activities and diversions, but we are shortchanged by a very obvious lack of community.
What we Angelenos really need to do is “find our feet.” I know that I am not the only one in the city who feels ridiculous walking to get around; it just isn’t in our lifestyle here. Walking promotes a sense of community and even more than that, a sense of belonging to the place you live.
If we could draw more attention to this deficiency in our city lives, maybe it could be improved.
