Court Orders Opposition Leader Held Longer

Zimbabwe’s main opposition leader was ordered held in custody for one more month when he appeared in a heavily guarded court to face charges that he incited protests aimed at toppling President Robert Mugabe.
Armed police clamped tight security around the Harare Magistrate’s Court as Morgan Tsvangirai, head of the Movement for Democratic Change, heard the formal reading of charges.
