Bush’s Mideast Peace Summit

Re “Arab Leaders Back Plan for Mideast Peace,” June 4: The “moderate” Arab leaders have dutifully said what President Bush wanted them to say, that they will now “fight terrorism” in the region.
This can be of little comfort to Israeli shoppers and pedestrians; in Arab eyes, suicide bombings, drive-by shootings, firebomb attacks and ambushes against Jews are not terrorism but “resistance” and “self-defense.”
So if it’s not terrorism when the victims are Jews, then what, exactly, have these suddenly enlightened despots agreed to do?
