Mystics End 11-Game Skid With Victory Over the Liberty

Chamique Holdsclaw had 24 points and 13 rebounds and the Washington Mystics ended an 11-game losing streak Tuesday night with a 77-64 victory over the New York Liberty in front of 13,051 at New York.
Holdsclaw got her seventh double-double of the season and even dished out five assists in Washington’s first victory since defeating San Antonio, 79-72, on June 10.
Annie Burgess had 15 points and Murriel Page had 11 for Washington (3-14), which tied a franchise record and had dropped to the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings during the streak.
Seattle 69, Houston 55 -- Sue Bird had 13 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds to lead the Storm over the Comets in front of 6,718 at Seattle.
Seattle (10-7) used a 13-2 run to take a 31-21 lead into halftime. Kamila Vodichkova’s 12 first-half points paced the Storm, which had lost nine of 10 games against Houston.
Sacramento 66, Cleveland 57 -- Tangela Smith scored 22 points and Ticha Penicheiro had a season-high 15 assists to lead the Monarchs over the Rockers in front of 11,940 at Cleveland. Penny Taylor scored 18 points for Cleveland.
