Chanting slogans against Afghanistan’s ousted Taliban regime and an extremist Sunni Muslim leader, more than 1,000 people rallied in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad, to protest an attack on a mosque last week that left at least 50 Shiite Muslims dead.
About 100 policemen blocked the march route and kept an eye on the rally, which ended peacefully.
The three men who attacked the mosque in the southwestern city of Quetta died in the incident.
Officials are investigating the possibility that Taliban and Al Qaeda fugitives may have been behind the attack.
