Man, 50, Dies in Condominium Fire

A Costa Mesa man died early Monday in a condominium fire, authorities said.
Peter Schwartz, 50, was pronounced dead shortly before 5 a.m. at a condominium in the 400 block of Bay Street. “The fire had pretty well extinguished itself by the time we got there,” said Gregg Steward, a spokesman for the Fire Department.
Schwartz’s body was found near the front door, Steward said. The blaze, which caused about $75,000 in damage, was under investigation.
