CalPERS Exec to Run L.A. Retirement Fund

The city of Los Angeles hired the assistant executive officer for investment operations at the California Public Employees’ Retirement System to oversee the $6-billion city employees’ retirement fund.
Robert Aguallo Jr., who will serve as general manager of the fund, has worked at CalPERS since 1989. He has been the investment operations chief there since 1995. CalPERS is the largest U.S. pension fund, with $133 billion invested.
Aguallo, 51, will start his new post Monday.
