Re “South Gate Clerk Gets a Tough Lesson in Politics,” Jan. 20: Kudos to South Gate City Clerk Carmen Avalos and to The Times for its “profile in courage” on her. If people do indeed get the government that they deserve, then the residents of South Gate have no one to blame but themselves if they do not heed Avalos’ call and recall the culprits for their brazen abuse of power in their city.
