A man crossing a street in Santa Ana was hit by a car and killed Friday evening, authorities said.
Police did not release his name pending notification of relatives.
The man, described as in his 40s, was crossing Harbor Boulevard just north of Kent Street about 6:40 p.m. when he was hit by a sport utility vehicle in the southbound lanes, said Lt. Jose Garcia of the Santa Ana Police Department.
He was not in a crosswalk when he was struck. Because of that, Garcia said, the driver was not cited.
The man was taken to UCI Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Garcia said.
