Four people were injured, including a 3-year-old boy, when a Ventura County sheriff’s deputy crashed his patrol car into another vehicle while chasing a suspected speeding driver in Camarillo, authorities said Sunday.
Deputy Ray Dominguez was treated for minor injuries in the crash about 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Pleasant Valley Road near Las Posas Road, authorities said.
Four people were in the car that Dominguez struck. A 42-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy were treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released. The toddler was in fair condition Sunday at a Santa Barbara hospital, and authorities said he was awake and talking. A fourth person in the car was not injured.
Brian Tinsley, the subject of the pursuit, was arrested late Saturday evening on suspicion of evading police and brandishing a metal pipe at deputies. The 18-year-old Camarillo man remained in custody Sunday in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
