Woods Lets His Clubs Do His Trash Talking

You would think by now that the guys on the PGA Tour, when asked anything about Tiger Woods, would either decline comment or just give the highest praise possible.

Annika Sorenstam’s acceptance of an invitation to play in a PGA event in May has created a lot of interest [“No Longer Man’s World”, Feb 13]. Golf is a sport in which the individual competes against the course and him/herself.
Similarly, distance running is also an individual sport and every weekend, in marathons and 10Ks around the world, men and women line up together to compete. The results are sorted out at the end with separate placings for both men and women.
Why couldn’t the PGA and LPGA do something similar? Put on two combined tournaments a year with each organization sponsoring one. Ladies’ tees could be used in one and not in the other. Each tournament would have two competitions going on simultaneously.
