Water Agency Sues Firm for Dam Repair Overrun

The Yuba County Water Agency is suing an engineering firm that oversaw its Lake Francis Dam reconstruction, which ran $10 million over budget.
The agency says it was misled by engineering firm Harlan Tait Associates Inc.
Citing concerns about the lake’s stability during an earthquake, state officials told the agency in 1989 that it either had to bolster the dam or raze it.
